I saw Jim's post ds106.club SSL Notes so though about checking in here again. Still of the mind that this would make an interesting place to run a DS106, I ceertainly feel more at home here than I do in minecraft.

Fixed a couple of scripts that point to files using http I suspect that this page is never read, but I like keeping it in my back pocket.

I was reminded of tilde clubs and therefor this ds106 tilde club, after a while I dug out my password.

I think this is going to be filed under the pile of things started in haste, finished never. I though a tilde club would have been a great fit for ds106, but...

I need to think a bit about this space, AFAIK I am the only person logging on to this in 2020.

Why should I use this space as opposed to my Rasperry Pi (Who's card died this week:(

Advantages of tilde would be the people and possible community.

After a wee break it looks like the ds106 club is up and running, thanks to @jimgroom.

Ocean's 106 Club | bavatuesdays explains. It looks lie we have some new toys to play with too, Finger protocol, Lynx , Tree , Irssi, Mutt and tmux!

I was trying to use finger here, but I get -bash: finger: command not found So I did a bit of searching and found pinky. The pinky man pages says pinky - lightweight finger.

So finger finds out info about a user, including some special unix files in the users home directory, including the .plan file. You can see the ouput for pinky -l johnjohnston the -l switch adds the info from my .plan file. I've added a script and cron job to dump the pinky info for all users in ds106.club here. So far noone but me has a plan;-)

If you are a club member you can edit your plan in your home directory by nano .plan.

Everyone in the ds106 club should have a plan.

I added my full name to the info with chfn : chfn -f 'John Johnston' the -f meaning full name.

So Mr Groom started a tilde club.

I am trying to stick to editing in the terminal (as opposed to sftp), bash (of which I know nothing) and vanilla JavaScript (rather than jquery).

DS106 Club Thumbs should, on a good day, give a view of recently updates sites on ds106.club. it uses this json file which is produced by a bash script I borrowed from here and run every hour with cron.
